On 29 July, 2017 the Gene Louw u/13 first xv rugby team took the win from their rivals, Swellendam Primary, in the final game. The boys beat them hands down with 8-0 on the scoreboard by the end of the game.
AHI Carrier South Africa, a joint venture of Carrier, has been the proud sponsor of the Gene Louw 7’s rugby team since January 2017. The team have been playing together since grade 1, completing their final year at Gene Louw Primary School with a bang in 2017!
The tournament took place in Mossel Bay, where the team competed against other primary schools in the region. Each team is required to compete in 7 pool games wherefrom two winners play against each other to determine who the winner will be. The semi-final against Worcester Primary seemed almost to be a walk in the park for the team with a finish scoreboard of 4-1.
The Gene Louw team played their hearts out and won 6 of their 7 pool games, only having to draw on the 7th game. However, they brawled their way to the top finishing as the best team of their pool for the fourth year running in Mossel Bay.
The Gene Louw team still has three 7’s tournaments to compete in for 2017. AHIC wish the team all the best for their upcoming games.
